I will tell the details of the native’s father’s house. It is situated in Saturn’s direction (west). The street is east to west. In the eastern side, a temple for Lord Vishnu, and in the northeast, a temple for the Lord whose carriage is a bull (Lord Shiva) and a temple for Kali are present.

In the western side of the house, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Mariamman are present. In that small town, the native lives. He was born in his mother’s house, which is two miles away to the north.

We will describe the yogas for the native, wife, children, father, and his mother. Also, we will tell about the previous and next births in this book. The Rishis addresses Parvati as the daughter of Himavan and requests her to listen.

Himavan’s story

Goddess Uma came to the earth from Kailasa, Her heavenly abode. Kailasa is described as being white in colour. It is white, like the sacred ash that adorns Lord Siva. It is white, like the pure hearts of His devotees.

While seated in Kailasa, the Goddess made a request to Lord Siva. The Consort of Lord Siva was also known as Dakshayani, because She was the daughter of Daksha. But Daksha, in his arrogance, had insulted Lord Siva. When the Goddess, without heeding Lord Siva’s words, visited the site of Daksha’s yaga (sacrifice), She too was insulted by Her father. She, therefore, wished to shed the tag of being known as Daksha’s daughter. She asked Lord Siva for a solution. He suggested that She become the daughter of Himavan, a king who was childless. Himavan and his wife longed for a daughter. The Goddess appeared near a lotus as a baby. When Menai, the wife of Himavan, saw the baby, milk flowed involuntarily from her breasts. She was moved by the sight of the effulgent baby.

When the Goddess was five years old, she decided to do penance in order to reach Siva. Her mother was anxious for the welfare of her child, and she asked Uma not to subject Herself to such difficulties in the name of penance. A flower can bear the weight of a bee. But can it bear the weight of an eagle? So, she reasoned with her daughter and pointed out that one so tender and young who had lived as the daughter of a king could not bear the severities of penance. Himavan too supported his wife’s views. The Goddess replied that no one could save or protect or support anyone. The only One who protected all was God. She refused to be turned away from Her determination to do penance. Himavan, seeing that his daughter was determined to do Her penance, prepared a suitable place for Her.

Uma’s penance was rewarded, and Lord Siva appeared before Her and married Her. He too had been doing penance, and Manmatha, the God of love, had to disturb His penance, to bring the Divine Couple together again. Thus, Daksha’s arrogance resulted in the Goddess disowning him and appearing as Himavan’s daughter.

We will tell about the family of native’s father. There will be a total of 11 siblings, out of which some will die. Two male and three female siblings will survive. The Rishi addresses Parvati as the one who gave birth to Lord Muruga and asks her to listen further.

He will do work after knowing fully well about the same. Even if he becomes angry, he will calm down later. Capable of speaking cunningly.
9கபடது கொஞ்சமுண்டு கனதனம் பின்னாலுள்ளான்
தபசிக ளுறவுகொள்ளான் சதியான சொல்லுமுள்ளான்
செபமது கொள்ளானாகும் தேவிமேல் பிரியனாவன்
பவசிறு தீனிகொள்வன் பதார்த்தங்கள் அதிகம் கொள்வன்
Will be deceitful a little. Will get lot of wealth in the latter half of his life. Will get the friendship of saints. Capable of talking treacherously. Will not do prayers. Will be fond of his wife. Will eat less but will eat more of snacks.
10இவன்தனை யீன்றதந்தை இல்லங்கள் விட்டுமேதான்
அவனியில் மனைவிபக்கல் அணுகியே சீவிப்பானாம்
குலவாது தந்தையாஸ்தி கூறினோம் மாதுர்வாலே
பலபல பூமியுண்டு பஞ்சைகட் குதவிசெய்வன்
The native’s father will leave his paternal residence and live with his wife. He will not inherit any paternal property. From the mother’s side, he will inherit many landed properties. Will donate to needy.

14அன்னமு மற்பமீவன் அடுத்தவர்க் குதவிசெய்வன்
பொன்னொடு மணிநற்றூசு புகழுற செய்யிலுண்டாம்
சொன்னயப் புடையவார்த்தை சொகுசூணும் காலாலுள்ளான்
இன்னமும் செல்வம்பின்னால் ஓங்கிடும் இவனுக்கேதான்
Will offer little food to the needy. Will help those who approach him. Will have gold, ornaments, and other wealthy things. Will say loving and soothing words. Will have healthy food. Will have servants. In his later years, his wealth will further increase.

Native will be having Rahu dasa during his 18thyear. He will have Ketu as well as Venus Antardasa during that time. All the three planets vis., Rahu, Ketu and Venus are associated with Lagna and the 7th house of marriage. Rahu is in Lagna and Ketu and Venus are in 7th house.

His wife will live long. At this point Goddess Parvati started asking, “Jeyamuni! You have stated in your treatise that when Ketu is in the seventh house, there will be two wives.” Jayamuni replied that there is no possibility of the death of the wife. 18எப்படி சொன்னீரய்யா ஏழிரண் டிடத்தோன்வெள்ளி
மெய்ப்புட னேழிலாட்சி வீற்றதால் மனைவிஒன்றே
செப்புவோ மிதற்குநேராய்ச் சாதகம் சுரிதிலேதான்
ஒப்புட னேழாம்பாவம் உரைத்திட்டோம் பார்ப்பாயாக
“How can you say so?” asked Parvati. The lord of the 2nd house and the 7th house—Venus—is placed in the 7th house, which is his own house, and hence he will have only one wife. You refer the treatise on astrology, Jataka Suruthi, where we have stated in a beautiful way the results of the seventh bhava.

Venus, the karaka for wife, if placed in the 7th bhava which indicate the spouse is considered bad by many classics as per the verse “Karaka Bhava Nasyo” meaning that any karaka placed in the concerned Bhava destroys the benefits of the Bhava. Also, if Ketu is placed in the 7thhouse it also destroys the significance of that bhava. But when Ketu is placed along with another planet, it cannot exhibit its results. Also, Ketu always takes the role of the Bhava Lord as well as the planet it conjoins. Hence the conjunction of Venus and Ketu will not bring about the death of the wife. But the presence of Ketu in the 7th house has its own demerits which are explained in the next verse.

19கேதுவு மேழில்நிற்க கிட்டிய பலனைச்சொல்வாய்
ஓதுவேன் அநேகமாதை உத்தமன் சேர்வானென்றோம்
மேதினில் விதவைமாதை வீரியன் போகம்செய்வன்
ஆதலால் அபிமானந்தான் அணுகிடு மொருத்தியென்றோம்
Kindly tell me the results of the placement of Ketu in the 7th house. This excellent person will be enjoying many women. He will be intimate with widowed women. Will have one concubine.

About Children

20புத்திர விருத்திதன்னை புகலுவோம் ஆண்பாலொன்று
சத்தியு மிரண்டுஎன்றோம் சதிருடன் மூன்றும்தீர்க்கம்
சித்தமாய் நான்குசேதம் செப்புவோ மிவனுக்கேதான்
அத்தியைப் பெற்றமாதே அறைந்தன மொழிகுன்றாது
We will tell about his children. He will get one male and two female children. These three will have long lives. Four more children will be born, but they will die. Addressing Goddess as the begetter of the elephant God, Rishi stated that whatever they say will not fail.

21அன்னையும் புத்திசாலி அன்புட னன்னமீவள்
சொர்ணமும் பணிநற்றூசு சுகம்பெற வணிவாளாகும்
மன்னிய வாததேகி மருமவாள் சிவந்தமேனி
தன்னுட துணைவர்பெண்பால் சாற்றினோ மூவராகும்
Mother is intelligent. With love, she will offer food to needy. She will be wearing ornaments made of gold and pearl. Will have a Vata constitution (a bloated body). Will be reddish in colour. She will have three sisters
22ஆணது காணாளாகும் அத்திரி சொல்லுகின்றார்
காணவே யவர்களாஸ்தி கருதுவா ரெவர்தான்சொல்வாய்
தோணவே பாதிபாகம் சுந்திரன் அடைவானாகும்
பூணுவோம் மாதுர்பூர்வம் புண்ணிய வதியேகேளாய்
but no brothers. Athri asked, “who will inherit that property?” The native will inherit half the property. We will tell about her previous birth. Listen, Virtuous woman!

Mother’s previous/next birth

23சேய்நதிதென் பாகத்தில் திருக்குடந் தைக்குமேல்பால்
தீயின்தன் வம்சத்தில் செனித்தவ ளிவளேயென்றோம்
ஆயவே குடும்பியாகி அவளுக்குச் சுதர்களுண்டாய்
நேயமாய் தானதர்மம் நிமலியும் செய்தாளென்றோம்
She was born to the south of a river and to the west of Kumbakonam in Vanniar community. she will have a family, beget children, and will be following a righteous path.
24செய்துமே மரணமாகி சிரசுநான் குடையோன்தன்னால்
உய்யவே வரியப்பட்டு உதித்தவ ளிவளேயென்றோம்
தையலின் பின்சென்மத்தைச் சாற்றுவோம் அவ்வூர்மேற்கில்
உய்குவாள் பிரம்மசேயாய் உத்தமி கேட்டிடாயே
And she died. The four-headed compassionate Brahma created her again, and she took birth as the mother of the native. We will tell about the next birth of this woman. In the same place, in the western direction she will be born as a Brahmin girl.

Father’s previous birth

முந்துமா பெலியினோரம் உயர்சம்பு வம்சம்தோன்றி
சந்ததம் தனங்கள்பூமி சகலமும் குறைவில்லாமல்
பந்தமாய்ப் பஞ்சைகட்டு பாலகன் உதவிசெய்து
We will tell about the previous birth of the native’s father. In the town called as Mahabalipuram near the sea, he was born in the higher Shaivite community. Always was in possession of wealth, grains, and property, and was living without any difficulties. He was also helping the needy.

பன்னிய சுதர்களின்றி பலபல தலங்கள்சென்று

Death of native’s parents

28இவர்கள்தன் காலந்தன்னை இயம்புவோம் கேளுந்தாயே
அவனியில் முப்பானேழில் அழகிய மகரமாதம்
நவனியில் தந்தைகெண்டம் நவின்றமி துவல்லாமல்
பவமுள மாதுர்வுக்கு பகருவோம் அதின்மேல்மூன்றும்
We will tell about the time of the parents’ death. Listen, Mother! His father will die when the native is of 37 years old, in the month of Makara (Thai), which is between 14th January to 14th February. His mother will die three years after that…

Let us try to find out the dasa and bhukti of the native at the time of death of the parents.

Native will be running Jupiter dasa during his 37thyear. Jupiter is the 9th lord. Planets placed in the 10th or the 3rd house normally become maraka of father. If no planets are placed, lords of these houses get the chance. There are no planets in this chart in the 10th house and in the 3rd   house. Lord of 10th house is Saturn, placed in the 10th house to the 9th house along with the 8th house lord (from the 9th house) Moon. So, this combination has only very feeble chances to bring about the end of father. The 3rd house lord is Mercury who is placed in the 12thhouse of exit of father and is conjoined with karaka for father Sun. This combination is aspected by the dasa lord Jupiter. Additionally, the dasa lord in the Nakshatra of maraka Mercury. The antardasa can be either of Moon which starts from 13-06-1928 and ends on 13-10-1928. Followed by Mars antara. Mars is again the 12th lord from the 9th house and placed in the 3rd house of longevity from the 9th house. Moon is lord of 8th house from 9th house and is conjoined with the 2nd house lord Saturn (for the 9th house). . Moon is in Chitra Nakshatra ruled by Mars. Both are capable of bringing the end of father.

Mother should have died at the age of 40 of the native. Dasa being that of Jupiter. Fourth house of mother is Cancer and its lord is Moon, the karaka for mother. Jupiter is placed in the 7th house of maraka from Moon and it also aspects the 4th house as well as Moon. Antardasa was of Rahu. Rahu is in the Nakshatra of Venus, who happens to be the 2nd lord from karaka Moon. Venus also aspects Rahu.

31இதுமத்தில் சாதகர்க்கு இலகாதோ மாரகங்கள்
விதியினால் காணுமம்மா விளம்புவீ ரந்தக்காலம்
சதியிலா மூன்றுஏழில் தக்கதோர் பிணியுமுண்டு
அதுகாலம் நிவர்த்தியாகில் அறைந்தனம் வயதுதீர்க்கம்
Parvati asked, “Will the native suffer any health crises in between? Kindly explain them”. Rishi replied that because of his karma, the native in his 3rd and 7th years will be affected by disease. If he gets cured of that disease, he will have a long life.

Fortunes of the native

32இன்னவன் யோகச்சேதி இயம்புவோம் கேளும்தாயே
தந்தையி னார்ச்சிதத்தை தானவன் விருத்திசெய்வன்
அன்னவன் தந்தைமேலாய் அவனுமே வாழ்வானாகும்
தன்னிலே தனதானியங்கள் சகலமும் குறைவில்லாமல்
Henceforth we will tell about the fortunes of the native. Listen mother! Having got the ancestral property from his father, he will augment the same. His father will also be well off, and the native will live in a better condition than that of his father. There will be no shortage of food grains and money.
33தன்சொல்லு மேம்பாடாகும் சதுஷ்பாதம் விருத்தியென்றோம்
பன்னுமா சாரனாவன் புகழுளான் சல்லியமில்லான்

34சாதகன் குடும்பச்சேதி சாற்றுவோ மீராறாண்டில்
மேதினில் வேறதாகும் விளம்புவோம் பாகம்மூன்றாய்
போதவே ஞாதிமேலாய் புத்திரன் வாழ்வானாகும்
மாதவர் துதிக்குமெங்கள் மங்கையே மேலுங்கேளே
Henceforth we will tell about the native’s family. During his 12th year, native’s father will live separately. His father will inherit one third of his father’s (grandfather’s) property. The native will live better than his relatives. The rishi addresses Goddess as the one who is worshipped by rishis and asks her to listen further.
35தேவதா பத்திகொள்வன் சிறுத்தவர் தம்மைக்காப்பன்
ஆவுகள் விருத்தியுள்ளான் அன்னங்கள் போடஇச்சை
மேவலர் பூசைசெய்வன் வீணப வாதமில்லான்

He will be much devoted to God. Will protect the poor. Will increase the cattle wealth. Will donate food to others. Will not be subjected to any bad reputation. He will keep his words. Listen Mother!
36செனித்திடு காலந்தன்னில் சேய்திசை யிருப்புதானும்
இனித்திடு மாண்டுமாறும் கூறுவோம் திங்கள்ரெண்டும்
கனமுடன் துணைவிவிருத்தி கனத்திடும் தானியங்கள்
இனமதில் சுபமுமுண்டு இருந்திடம் பேதமாகும்
From the time of birth, Mars dasa was running for 6 years and 2 months. He will be happy during that period. Wife also be prosperous and happy. There will be additional yield of grains. Wealth will also increase. Relations will be happy. Will have change of place.

தீதுகள் தாய்தந்தைக்கே சேர்ந்திடும் ரோகமுண்டு
மாதுவே பின்பாகத்தில் வரைகிறோம் விபரமாக
